Delirium Strikes.
Delirium Strikes is a project capturing moments of exhaustion experienced by an NHS Psychiatric Health Care Assistant during the 2020 Global Pandemic. This series documents the subject’s post-night-shift delirium as she attempts to process her experiences and emotions once home, before succumbing to extreme exhaustion and falling asleep. Discarded hospital scrubs, unkept nail polish, and an unmade bed picture the burnt-out HCA’s attempt to sleep following a 14-hour shift full of physical assault, verbal abuse, and life-saving interventions. The project aims to recognise the sacrifice of essential workers during this time and reflects on the vitality of current healthcare staff within the National Health Service. Subsequently, the project looks to explore conversations surrounding current strikes in relation to a demand for fair pay.
